Hi, I’m Raechelle Clemmons, a.k.a. Rae! I’m currently the CIO at Davidson College, a position I’ve held since February 2016. Prior to coming to Davidson, I was VP & CIO at St. Norbert College, and before that, CIO at Menlo College. I started my higher education career at California State University, East Bay. I’m also a 2009 Frye Leadership Institute Fellow.

I am *not* your typical CIO; in fact, I’ve had a pretty non-traditional rise into IT leadership. I started my professional career in retail sales management and moved from there into business-to-business marketing. In the late ’90s I joined my first Silicon Valley start-up, and spent the next 6 years managing both people and projects for technology start-ups in the areas of product marketing and communication, client services, and business development. I made the leap into higher education in 2004, and the rest, as they say, is history.

I *am* a total geek, and proud of it. I have a deep love of technology, and of helping people and organizations understand and leverage technology to enhance whatever it is that they’re doing. I am also strongly passionate about diversity, and in particular, gender equity. I’d love to help build a world where geeky girls like me are the norm, rather than the exception. This blog explores these topics and others of interest to me — cloud computing, sustainability and green IT, teaching with technology, and more.

For more about me, view my curriculum vitae, or look me up on Linked In, Twitter, or Facebook.

One more thing…the views and opinions in the blog are purely my own and do not represent the views, opinions, or policies of my employer.
